TThis is a summary of the pitch presented at SPIN on April 15th.he following is a digest of the startup’s pitch from the event.
I’m Mutaz from Renna Health. We’re building a virtual clinical team for the emergency room β software that engages patients on their phones throughout their visit, and takes action to keep the ER moving.
The Problem
You’ve probably been in an ER β as a patient or a caregiver. Long waits, poor communication, someone you care about feeling terrible and no one telling you why. On the clinical side, it’s no better: we’re understaffed, overworked, and operating in a high-stress, high-risk environment.
The root cause is a quite dramatic mismatch between the needs of our patients and the bandwidth of our clinical teams. The U.S. spends $1.4 trillion a year on clinicians β and is still 3 million short. By 2030, that gap widens to $2.2 trillion. Hospitals across the country are closing departments or shuttering entirely, every one of them citing the same two forces: labor and cost. The operational waste alone β travel nurse premiums, costly local staffing, attrition β runs $46β50 billion a year.

The Solution
Renna places a virtual clinical team inside the ER. It engages patients on their phones β often, and early. Based on those conversations, it acts: disposition planning, medication reconciliation, documentation drafting. All the critical work that keeps the ER unclogged and patient throughput moving.
How It Works
Today’s ER runs in series: one patient, one nurse, one task at a time. Renna parallelizes it. Every waiting patient gets reached simultaneously. Every piece of documentation gets drafted at once.
Wait time is not care time. Patients spend one to two hours in a waiting or exam room with no clinical contact. Renna uses that window to run reassessments and catch changes in condition β if a patient’s pain shifts from chest to back, that matters clinically and needs to surface immediately. Rather than flooding clinicians with raw data, Renna filters the noise and delivers only what they need to act on. The result is dramatically more value from every hour of human clinical labor.

Traction & Competitive Edge
Renna is part of the Alchemist Accelerator and is engaged in early institutional partnerships with major health systems in North America. The company is operating under a contract with the Canadian federal government’s ISED Industrial and Scientific Cooperation program, piloting Renna within the Canadian public healthcare system.
